Prompt: Today, you worked on a PowerPoint presentation based on a character from "The Life You Save May Be Your Own." Do you think creating a presentation like this helps you understand a story and its characters better than a traditional worksheet? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

Prompt: I personally think that a traditional worksheet is better than a PowerPoint. Mostly because I find that when I'm writing something I retain information much better. I have to think long about my answers and correctly analyze how I'm going to set everything up when writing it by hand because usually when you're typing you have the ability to go back and rewrite. Of course making the PowerPoint everything was organized and I still was able to retain information. Summary: Absent Reflection: Writing it by hand allows me to understand and retain information better about what I'm writing about.

Prompt: In the beginning of “The Life You Save May Be Your Own,” Mrs. Crater and Mr. Shiflet meet for the first time and begin forming opinions about one another based on what they see, hear, and assume. Neither character truly knows the other yet, which raises an important question about first impressions. Blog Prompt: Have you ever had a first impression of someone that later turned out to be wrong? What made you form that first impression, and what eventually changed your mind? Based on what you have read so far, what first impression do you have of Mr. Shiflet? Explain what he has said or done that has shaped your opinion of him.

Prompt: All of my connections have started with first impressions, one person was when I first met my cousin we didn't talk much but when I did try to talk to her I thought that she was standoffish but now talking back with her on the past now that we are closer it turns out she thought I was the same way as well. My first impression of Mr Shiftlet was that he was shady and not to be trusted mostly because of his name and the introduction of him being a tramp. Throughout the story I further deep in my understanding of him when he constantly talked about what he did and who he was as a person without any backing. Now learning that he is a manipulator. Summary:We read the story. Reflection: First Impressions don't always go as they seem it's better not to base a person on first impressions.

Prompt: Today, you continued working on your "The Life You Save May Be Your Own" PowerPoint project. Think about the creation process. Which part of creating your presentation has required the most thought or creativity? What choices have you made with your information, images, or slide design to help communicate your understanding of the story? Explain.

Prompt: The parts where I had to go into depth about lessons and what the reader will learn throughout the story inspired my creative process the most. It made me go into depth and think about what the story was really trying to convey with this character. The creative process involved deep thinking and going back into the story and reflecting over it and what it made me feel. Summary: We continued working on our PowerPoint project and finished up on any missing work. Reflection: In order to correctly analyze a text you must first understand the lesson and the many lessons throughout the story.
